For mom's b-day this year I actually made something for her. She is kinda hard to buy for, so I thought I would try something different and make something unique, just for her.
Because I am lovin' this cathedral window pattern, I made her a table topper to go under her lamp.
Here's a close up.
I've also been eyeballing the oven mit tutorial over at the Idea Room for quite a while now, so I attempted to make some of those, and let me tell you, she makes this project look easy to make, but for a beginning sewer, it was not that easy. I struggled with the bias binding and sewing on the trim/ribbon, man! If anyone has any tricks they want to share that makes this look more "store-bought," let me know. Anyway, here are the oven mits, but please, don't look too close.
I also made her a dishtowel with the same cathedral window pattern. Yep, I really like that pattern.
Here's the completed gift. I got the planter from Hobby lobby for $7.
Happy Birthday, Mom! I love you and thank you for letting me talk your ear off everyday, several times a day. You are so good to me and my kids. I don't know what I would do without you!

You do have a cute MOM and I am glad she has been a friend for almost fifty years! Your sewing is beautiful and so is your daughter! Keep up the great work.
