Music 101 with Kids

This was a simple music introduction for my 3 year old boys. They are still learning their letters so I color coded the notes for them.

Materials: keyboard, music notebook, color coding labels, black Sharpie.

I took the color coding labels (6-7 different colored dots needed), assigned notes C, D, E, F, G, A to a specific color.

Arranged the labels in the correct order for our song.

Put the correct label on the right notes on the keyboard (we opted not to put stickers on the piano).

Then we took turns pointing to the colored note.

The boys really liked playing the piano. It's all they talked about since last night. Hopefully this little intro to the piano will peek their interest in music.

What a great idea, maybe now I can get Ander to stop banging my piano and actually play something recognizable...Plus you're right I think it's a great intro to music.
