Family Vacation 2008

Cameron and I needed a vacation. With his work being so crazy right now, and with another baby on the way, we needed to get away! We invited Dru and Sherri to come and it was really nice for the boys to be able to spend some one-on-one time with the grandparents. We decided to go to Southern California because Cam was going out there on business, so we flew out there and met him when his work was done. We went to the Orange County Swap Meet, Huntington Beach, Disneyland and the Long Beach Aquarium. My favorite part was the time we spent at the beach. I forgot how much I love to be in the ocean. The water was pretty cold, but it was so much fun to see the boys splash and jump around and actually want to be out there playing. Cooper went into hysterics when we started packing up to go back to the hotel because he didn't want to get out of the ocean! The weather was perfect, a pleasant 82 degrees.

We spent two days at Disneyland. This is the perfect time of year to go. The longest line we waited in was the Finding Nemo ride and even then we only waited 10 minutes. We walked right on Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones, and even Space Mountain. It was incredible. And to top it all off, it was all decked out in Christmas decor. You know, it really is a fun to place to be and then you add Christmas into the mix and it amplifies it by a hundred. I don't think I will ever be able to go to Disneyland in the summer ever again. Preston's favorite ride was either the Buzz Lightyear Adventure or Woody's Roundup at California Adventure. They are both interactive rides with toy laser guns. He is going to be just like his dad. He already loves anything electronic. Cooper probably liked the car ride the best, or maybe the rockets. He loves to "go fast."

The last day we visited the aquarium. It was OK. I was expecting it to be fabulous because we were right on the ocean, but really, the Sandy Aquarium has just as much sea life (minus the otters and seals). But, overall, we had a good time looking at all the fish.

The trip was really fun. I definitely would recommend going on more vacations. We don't do it nearly enough and I am going to try to make it more of a priority. It is good for the soul.
